Thank You Coastal Community Credit Union
A heartfelt Thank You Coastal Community Credit Union for your kind donation of $5,000 towards our lunch program that helped the Campbell River & District Adult Care Society’s family. To most of our clients are their family and they rely on us for much needed support including a hot meal. These funds have helped us enrich the lives of clients, by providing hot, nutritious, and satisfying meals in an social atmosphere filled with joy, friends, and sharing. For example, one of our clients, who recently lost his wife, and is new to living alone, said he looks forward to having lunches with his friends at Adult Care. He stated, “it is difficult to cook for one person and then sit at an empty table to eat”. He enjoys coming to the day program where he gets to eat a tasty hot meal in a comfortable, social, warm setting. Another client reported, “I am on a pension, and it is getting more difficult to afford what I need, and pay all the bills, as everything seems to be increasing in costs these days. Knowing I can come here and get a large, great tasting meal, and enjoy great company, takes away some of this stress”. Joan stated that she does not have a stove anymore at home, only a microwave. Prior to joining Adult Care, was only eating store bought frozen microwave meals. She was losing weight, and becoming increasingly frail. Now she enjoys the company of others, while eating a nutritious meal. She says that she feels stronger, and has finally put on a bit of weight.
There are so many different stories to share, of the joys that arise when you bring people and food together in a warm, inviting space. Your donation for lunch program brought joy to many faces that flows into our community, by seniors making connections, and sharing those connections with families and friends. Coastal Community Credit Union has helped us continue to spread this joy through their generous donation that provided approximately 625 hot meals for our clients and helped them to stay healthy. A huge thank you to all of you for making a difference!
